Because of this, a lot of tension builds up between the two plates, until an earthquake occurs when they slide past each other. Haiti is an example of a transform boundary, because the left side of Haiti (where Port Au Prince is located) is the boundary of a tectonic plate that is sliding past another tectonic plate going in the other direction (Transform boundary).
